Within the framework of the Football Strategic Development Program of Armenia, adopted in 2010, after the FFA Technical Center/Football Academy in Yerevan and then the Football Academy in Gyumri, the Football Federation of Armenia in 2014 began the construction of the Football Academy in Vanadzor.
The opening ceremony of the Vanadzor Football Academy was held, attended by President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on October 29, 2016.
The opening ceremony of this exceptional football infrastructure in the third city of the republic, the administrative, economic, cultural, sports center of the Lori region, was attended by the FFA President Ruben Hayrapetyan, representatives of regional and city authorities, members of the FFA Executive Committee and public representatives of the region.
Most importantly, the focus of the opening ceremony of the Football Academy was on young players in the Lori region, for whom these significant investments were made to improve their football skills.
The construction project of the Vanadzor Football Academy is a joint investment project implemented by UEFA and the Football Federation of Armenia, with a total value of 1 billion 133 million drams, of which 1 billion 101 million drams were allocated for the construction and 32 million drams for equipment.
UEFA supplied 150 million 831 thousand drams, 982 million 169 thousand drams were invested by the Football Federation of Armenia.
This modern football infrastructure is located on 4.4 hectares. The Academy consists of a three-floors building with an area of 1260 square meters, which has all the conditions for modern football: furnished sports halls, dressing rooms, bathrooms, showers, classroom, medical room, administrative part and much more.
Playing fields with artificial (1) and natural grass (3) are built using the latest generation technologies and meet the standards of professional football FIFA and UEFA.
Up to 600 boys and girls can study at the Football Academy, and about 35-40 Vanadzor residents will find work. Already more than 140 young players are currently participating in the training process.
