Ruben Nazaretyan: "There are no weak opponents in the main round"
On May 30, the draw for the main round of the UEFA Futsal EURO 2026 took place at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon. Armenian futsal team has been placed in Group 6, where their opponents will be Albania, Denmark, and Kazakhstan.
Ruben Nazaretyan, the head coach of Armenian futsal national team, commented on the results of the draw:
"We are in a difficult group. The competitors are really strong. We knew that there are usually no weak opponents at this stage. Kazakhstan is the third-ranked country in Europe. The other two teams, Albania and Denmark, are also quite strong. However, we have a strong squad and will do everything we can to reach the finals of the European Championship."
The teams that finish first in the ten groups of the main stage will earn a spot in EURO 2026, joining the hosts of the final stage, Latvia and Lithuania. The second-place teams in the groups will contest the remaining four spots. The best eight second-placed teams will compete in the playoffs.
The main stage matches will take place between December 9, 2024, and April 16, 2025. The detailed schedule will be announced later.
