Regions' Cup, Preliminary round: Cilicia started with a convincing victory
The preliminary qualifying round of the 2026/27 UEFA Regions' Cup amateur football competition kicked off in Yerevan on June 14. Three amateur teams are taking part: Armenia's Cilicia, Estonia's Hiiumaa, and Lithuania's Tera.
In the opening match, held at the FFA Technical Centre / Football Academy, Cilicia faced Teran and secured a dominant 5–0 victory. Davit Yavryan scored a brace, while Georgi Kostenkov, Artur Alaverdyan, and Gagik Akulyan each added a goal.
The next match will take place on June 17, when Hiiumaa and Tera meet.
The team that finishes first in the preliminary group will advance to Intermediate Round Group 1, where it will face representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Wales, and North Macedonia. A total of 32 teams will compete in the intermediate round. (San Marino and Malta participate with national amateur teams instead of regional selections.) All matches will be played between August 21 and December 4, 2026. The teams will be divided into eight groups of four, with only the group winners progressing to the finals. The UEFA Regions' Cup Final Tournament will be held in the summer of 2027.
