The third module of the UEFA/FFA A License coaching course was held, led by Ivi Casagrande
From July 14 to 16, the third module of the UEFA/FFA A Licence coaching course was held, focusing on physical preparation in football. The course was delivered by Ivo Casagrande, a member of UEFA's Fitness Advisory Group, who travelled to Armenia for the occasion.
During the three-day module, participants explored the physical demands of the modern game and their relationship with a team's playing system, playing style, and tactical decisions. Particular attention was given to the position-specific physical requirements of players, as well as the differences between men's and women's football.
The course also examined the impact of different playing systems and styles on physical load, positional demands, and the requirements that arise during the various phases of a match. Participants analysed how a coach's tactical decisions influence both individual players and the team as a whole.
The advantages and limitations of integrated and isolated training methods were discussed, together with ways of combining physical and tactical objectives within the training process. The structure of the weekly microcycle and the selection of appropriate training loads for different training days were also covered.
The module included theoretical and practical sessions, as well as group work. Participants designed training sessions for MD-4 and MD-1, defined their objectives, selected appropriate exercises, and delivered the sessions on the pitch.
