Yeghishe Melikyan and Ugochukwu Iwu held a pre-match press conference

Ahead of the Montenegro–Armenia match in Group C2 of the UEFA Nations League, Armenia national team head coach Yeghishe Melikyan and midfielder Ugochukwu Iwu held a pre-match press conference.

The national team head coach noted that, just as before the first match, the team’s personnel resources remain severely limited, so they will have to fight courageously for a positive result. According to Melikyan, the team has a clear plan and must win to maintain its strong chances of advancing to the next stage.

“Playing at home is different because the support of the fans pushes us forward. We really need them, but we must also be prepared for the pressure coming from the stands. We should not forget that we are one of the youngest national teams in Europe, but that does not mean we lack ambition. I hope luck will be on our side and that the support of our fans at the stadium, even if not in large numbers, will give us extra strength to beat Montenegro,” Melikyan said.

Ugochukwu Iwu also noted that it is a pleasure to play in Podgorica.

“We had the opportunity to get a better result in Yerevan, but unfortunately, we came away without any points. We have come here to turn things around and win,” the midfielder concluded.
