Francisco Javier Miñano leaves the Armenia national team

Francisco Javier Miñano, the fitness coach of the Armenia national football team, will no longer work with the national side.


Over the years, he has been part of the coaching staffs of Armen Gyulbudaghyants, Joaquín Caparrós, Alexander Petrakov, John van ’t Schip, and Yeghishe Melikyan.


After working with the national team for seven years, Miñano has received an offer from the Spanish Football Federation. From now on, he will serve as the Head of the Youth Talent Development Department. He will also coordinate UEFA and FIFA programs within the Spanish Football Federation.


“After 7 unforgettable years at the Football Federation of Armenia as the fitness coach of the national team, the time has come to close this unique chapter of my life.


I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Armenian people, the players, the coaching staff, and all the employees of the federation who made this journey possible. Your trust, professionalism, and kindness helped Armenia become my home.


These years were full of learning, challenges, and exceptional human relationships that I will always carry with me. Armenia will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you, Armenia,” Miñano said in his farewell message.

Mr. Miñano, with his high level of professionalism, extensive international experience, and modern approaches, made a significant contribution to the development of our team’s physical preparation. Thanks to his strong human values, willingness to cooperate, and positive attitude, Mr. Miñano earned the respect of the national team players, the coaching staff, and the federation’s employees. I thank him for his dedicated work, professional approach, and contribution to the development of Armenian football.


I wish Mr. Miñano success in his future career, new professional achievements, and all the best,” said Armen Melikbekyan.


Miñano became a World Cup and European Championship winner with the Spain national team and won the UEFA Champions League twice with Real Madrid.
