The UEFA/FFA B licence course is the second level of the mainstream coach education pathway, building on and deepening the knowledge and practical skills developed on the C diploma course.
The course focuses on player and team development, planning and managing the training process, a deeper understanding of the game, and the coach’s ability to analyse, make decisions and put them into practice.
Learning places particular emphasis on working in real-life coaching contexts, linking theoretical knowledge with practical work, completing assignments between modules and reflecting on participants’ professional experience.
The course aims to develop the coach’s ability to plan, organise and deliver training independently and systematically, taking account of players’ characteristics, the team’s development needs and the demands of the game.
During the course, participants deepen their understanding of football’s development and the modern game, improve their ability to analyse their own team and the opposition, and learn to use the findings to plan training and make coaching decisions.
The course content is structured around four interrelated areas: “The Coach”, “The Player and Environment”, “Training” and “The Match”.
The coach’s role and responsibilities in player and team development; leadership; communication; and collaboration. The roles and interaction of coaching staff members are explored, including the role of the goalkeeper coach. Emphasis is placed on reflection on one’s own practice, independent learning and continuous professional development.
Players’ age-related and individual characteristics; the application of basic physiology and nutrition in football; psychological preparation; and sports ethics. Emphasis is placed on player well-being, mutual respect, and creating a safe and supportive environment for learning and development.
Planning and periodisation of the training process; designing, organising, delivering and evaluating training sessions. The use of technology to plan, monitor and analyse training.
Match preparation, development of a match plan and management of the team during the game. Analysis of the team’s own play and that of the opposition, post-match feedback to players, and use of the findings to inform subsequent training. Developments in football and the Laws of the Game are also covered.
The course consists of six modules and final examinations.
Learning combines theoretical study, on-pitch practical sessions, individual and group work, and practical coaching sessions between modules, during which participants apply the knowledge and skills acquired on the course.
Practical assignments are completed with participants’ own teams or with teams provided by the FFA.
Participation in all learning components of the course is compulsory. The procedures governing absences and the completion of missed learning activities are set out in the course participation terms.
Formative assessment supports and monitors participants’ progress throughout the course through theoretical and practical work, assignments and coaching sessions delivered between modules.
Summative assessment, including final examinations, takes place at the end of the course. It assesses participants’ knowledge of the Laws of the Game and their ability to plan and deliver training, identify player and team development needs, analyse their own team and the opposition, make coaching decisions, and apply the knowledge and skills acquired in a practical coaching context.

The course is intended for coaches with some initial coaching experience who wish to deepen their professional knowledge and practical skills in order to work more independently and systematically on player and team development.
To be admitted to the UEFA/FFA B diploma course, applicants must hold a valid UEFA C Licence and, by the start of the B diploma course, have gained at least six months’ experience as a head or assistant coach after obtaining it.
An exception applies to long-serving professional players: players who have completed at least seven full seasons in the Armenian Premier League may apply for the B diploma course without holding a C Licence or meeting the six-month coaching experience requirement.
Applicants must have sufficient spoken and written command of the official language of the course.
Admission follows the procedure established by the FFA.
The selection criteria include applicants’ coaching experience, experience working with youth teams, the age groups they have coached or currently coach, experience as a head coach, and progress during previous coach education courses.
An individual interview may also be held as part of the admission process, where necessary.

The fee for the UEFA/FFA B diploma course is AMD 500,000, inclusive of taxes and other mandatory charges.

The UEFA/FFA B Diploma represents the second level of coach education and provides a foundation for coaching at a higher level and for further coach education.
Participants who fulfil the course requirements and successfully complete the assessments are awarded a diploma and coaching licence at the corresponding level.
Coaches holding a valid UEFA B Licence may progress to the UEFA/FFA A diploma course if they have gained at least one year’s experience as a head or assistant coach in 11-a-side football after obtaining their UEFA B Licence and meet the other admission requirements.
