Inclusive football

Inclusive football

The Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) places great importance on the development of grassroots football and inclusiveness in Armenia. From this perspective, the inclusion of persons with special needs in football is of particular significance as a key principle of equality and accessibility. Initiatives aimed at the development of disability football provide opportunities for all children, regardless of their physical or intellectual characteristics, to fully participate in football activities, break stereotypes, and turn their dreams into reality.

Since 2023, an Inclusive Football Development Program has been implemented under the auspices of the FFA, offering children with special needs the opportunity to train and engage in football. Currently, five training groups operate within the framework of the program.

Training sessions are conducted under the direct supervision of professional coaches and specially trained psychologists. The program is not only focused on developing football skills but also serves as an important platform for social inclusion, equal opportunities, and the comprehensive development of children.

It is aligned with the policies of the Republic of Armenia on inclusive education and the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, and also contributes to the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries of the program are children aged 9–18 with special needs (autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, etc.).

Objectives

To increase the level of physical activity of children with disabilities by providing regular, adapted football training and developing their motor skills.

To develop children’s teamwork, communication, and cooperation skills, contributing to their social integration.
